ABout NZSki
For generations, Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Mt Hutt ski areas have shaped how skiers and snowboarders experience winter in New Zealand.
Behind these three iconic mountains is NZSki, a family-owned and operated company founded by Sir John Davies, who remains at the helm today.
Our story Began in 2002
A consortium of businesses let by Trojan Holdings, NZSki’s parent company, purchased the three ski areas from Air New Zealand. Over time, NZSki acquired the remaining shares, eventually becoming the sole owner and guardian of all three mountains.
Since 2002, we’ve invested in the mountains in every way we can, with a focus on getting the experience right for our guests while building for the future. That’s meant significant upgrades in lift infrastructure, road access, snowmaking and facilities, alongside the introduction of summer mountain biking and new technology to reduce our environmental impact.
Around 1,300 staff are at the heart of what we do each winter, welcoming hundreds of thousands of skiers and snowboarders to our mountains between June and October.
Our main headquarters are located in Queenstown with a smaller base in Methven.
How our mountains have evolved since the early 2000s;
Investing for the future
We’re now shifting our focus to The Remarkables proposed expansion into the neighbouring Doolans Basin, adding over 260 hectares of new skiable terrain and a 2.7km gondola linking the existing ski area with the new valley.
It's about more than adding terrain. It’s about investing in the future of the mountain, creating better experiences for our guests, supporting our community and finding thoughtful ways to grow while looking after the environment we depend on.
It’s the same approach we’ve taken since 2002: invest in our mountains, back our people and keep looking ahead.
