Train To Become a Ski or Snowboard Instructor with Us.

If you’ve been a skier or snowboarder for quite some time, why not come and train with us towards your Level 1 or above Ski or Snowboard instructing qualifications, and even better, have an opportunity to interview for a role on our team!

Your Ability

You’ll be an advanced skier or rider, confident in all mountain terrain and conditions. Our Snowsports crew are an important part of our mountain team, delivering unforgettable experiences every day for our guests.

Opportunity to Join Our Team

After our Rookie Instructor Training Programme, you will be prepared to take your Level 1 NZSIA Ski or SBINZ Snowboard certification exam and be guided to the most appropriate exam date to focus on.

On successful completion* of the Rookie Instructor Training Programme in either Queenstown or Canterbury, you will be offered the opportunity to interview for a full-time or part-time seasonal position with one of our Queenstown or Mt Hutt Snowsports Schools as an Instructor.

*Please note that successful completion means performing to the expected level required for a Rookie/Level 1 instructor

Please note that the two programme options (Coronet Peak and The Remarkables in Queenstown, or Mt Hutt in Canterbury) are the same, please apply to just one location, either Queenstown or Canterbury.

Queenstown Rookie Instructor Training Programme

A 10-day performance ski or snowboard instructor training programme delivered by highly qualified, passionate trainers and examiners and includes on snow and indoor tech sessions. For those who successfully complete the 10-day programme this provides a pathway towards an entry level instructor in the Queenstown Snowsports team based at Coronet Peak and The Remarkables. NZSki Rookie Instructor Training is the highest standard of ski and snowboard instructor training in New Zealand, delivered by the very best of NZSIA and SBINZ’s trainers/examiners. Trainees will be invited to an interview on completion of the 10 day programme, those who are successful may start onboarding with NZSki on June 30.

Ability Level:

Must be able to ski or ride with confidence, control and a high level of skill on all red and black terrain.

Times and Dates:

9am – 3:30pm daily. Training is in two, five-day blocks starting June 17-21 and June 24-28.

WHAKATIPU HIGH SCHOOL ROOKIE INSTRUCTOR PROGRAMME

A four-day performance ski or snowboard programme to prepare Whakatipu High School students for working with the Queenstown Snowsports team through the 2024 July School Holidays and then proceed on to Level 1 Instructor Exams post holidays over a three weekend NZSIA or SBINZ course/exam. External NZSIA/SBINZ exam fees are not included in the training programme fee. On completion of the programme trainees will be invited to a professional interview and if successful will be asked to begin onboarding to NZSki from Saturday July 6 and continue working through the school holidays on a fulltime basis.

Times and Dates:

June 15th/16th and June 22nd/23rd (Saturday and Sunday over both weekends)

MT HUTT ROOKIE INSTRUCTOR TRAINING PROGRAMME

A four day performance ski or snowboard programme to prepare students for working with Mt Hutt Snowsports through July School Holidays. Candidates require a lift pass in addition to the cost of the programme to attend the training.

Ability Level:

Must be able to ski or ride with confidence, control and a high level of skill on all red and black terrain.

Dates:

June 17th, 18th, 20th and 21st (rest after day 2).

Times:

9am - 3:30pm

INSTRUCTOR TRAINING NZSIA

Levels 1, 2 & 3

A step ahead of the rest, NZSki’s Performance Academy operates New Zealand’s highest quality Instructor Training Programmes preparing you for success in NZSIA and SBINZ certification courses. Experience top quality training with everything you need to achieve success in your NZSIA (Ski) or SBINZ (Snowboard) Level 1, 2 or 3 exams! These dual mountain courses operate at both Coronet Peak and The Remarkables,

Includes:

On mountain equipment storage for the duration of the training programme

Access to Performance Academy/3 Peak Season Pass at our Super Earlybird rate of NZ $1045

Fulltime training commencing June 24 and finishing with NZSIA or SBINZ certification exams in August/September 2024.

If required, transport to Coronet Peak or The Remarkables available at season pass holder rates once registered for the programme.

Assistance joining NZSIA as a member and signing up for your NZSIA/SBINZ Level 1, 2, or Level 3 exams.
All NZSIA/SBINZ exams are an external (additional) cost to NZSki instructor training programmes and delivered by an external provider (NZSIA).

Professional instructor training on snow daily from 9am – 3.30pm with indoor technical sessions forming part of regular training.
