Queenstown Winter Festival
Tens of thousands of locals and visitors will take to Queenstown streets and ski slopes for the Southern Hemisphere's biggest winter party, to celebrate the official start to winter.
It's a four day celebration with street parties, fireworks, international and local acts, comedy, family fun, and plenty of Mountain Mayhem.

Night Skiing starts at Coronet Peak
The day doesn’t have to end at 4pm at Coronet Peak. On Friday and Saturday nights, starting on Saturday the 24th of June, the Coronet Express and the Meadows Express stay open until 9pm. Students Ride Free Day Queenstown
On Saturday June 24th, six of the South Island’s ski resorts will be giving tertiary students with a current New Zealand student ID, the opportunity to ski or snowboard at their resort FREE of charge, at the inaugural Students Ride Free Day.
Removing the barrier of buying a lift pass, the hope is to get students up to ski resorts that wouldn’t have otherwise gone up there, and ignite their passion for the mountains and ultimately increase participation in snow sports. This fantastic initiative is set to become an annual occurrence, creating a winter date that students from all over New Zealand can put in their calendar and get excited about.
How do tertiary students register? There is an online registration form that eligible students can fill out if they would like to ski for free. The main item is choosing which mountain you would like to visit and it takes about 2 minutes to complete. Registration will be on a first-in-first-served basis. Register today.
Registration is open from Thursday June 1st until Friday June 23rd 6pm (South Island) and until Friday June 30th 6pm (North Island).
Eligibility: New Zealand Tertiary Students with current student ID.
Number restrictions: Mount Hutt and Porters (500), Coronet Peak and The Remarkables (750), Cardrona and Treble Cone (unlimited) and Mount Ruapehu (Whakapapa 1000) (Turoa 1000)
Offering: Free day lift pass (10am-4pm) to eligible students.

Here’s one for you intrepid early risers. Get your boots on before the sun bursts over the peaks and as well as a stunning sunrise you’ll get your pick of the first runs down. There’s nothing quite like being the first on the smooth groomed corduroy or making fresh tracks in the new snow. Please note that a First Tracks pass must be purchased in conjunction with a valid day lift pass.

Minishred #1 of 2 part series. Young skiers and riders show off their tricks in The Remarkables "beginner park".
The Mini Shred is all about having a go and having a ton of fun and a great way for kids to build up to the 'big kids' Slopestyle events.
Lots of prizes and giveaways to be won. Free entry with a $20 bib deposit (lift pass required).
