First timers

Queenstown’s Coronet Peak and The Remarkables are great places to learn to ski or snowboard and we love welcoming first timers. Planning and preparation are the keys to having a safe and enjoyable winter holiday in the snow. Here is a range of tips to help you plan your first trip to the snow.

The novice area has plenty of space for learner skiers and snowboarders.

The Meadows Express quad at Coronet Peak has unique safety features. The four conveyor lifts are for accessing the dedicated novice and beginner areas.

There are separate beginners’ trail and a freestyle kids ‘fun‐zone’ with a tunnel and jumps. There is also a dedicated Snow Tubing lane alongside the conveyor lifts which will operate during the day and during night skiing on the weekends.

At The Remarkables, the new Base Lodge enables easy, direct access to the purpose‐built beginners slope featuring three surface conveyor lifts, plus easy access to the Alta Chair for novice skiers and the Curvey Basin chairlift.
