Snow Conditions
Machine Groomed
We are enjoying the best snow conditions of our season so far following the new snow that arrived at the weekend. Main trails received the attention of our expert team of snowcat operators overnight and will start off super wide and impeccably smooth. Sections of the upper mountain trails that were exposed to strong overnight winds may be a little firm today. Mid Towers and various other stashes of wind-blown powder will provide excellent off-trail skiing and riding today.
Weather Conditions
2.6°
At 6am we have clear skies overhead, light winds in the base area and 20-30km/h winds at the summit. Forecast is for a mostly fine day with patchy high cloud and winds gradually strengthening during the day. Visit www.metservice.co.nz for the latest Mt Hutt Ski Area forecast (updated at around 7:30am each day).
Road Conditions
Chains on 2WD
Compacted snow/ice on the road upwards from Waterfall Corner has been well gritted but chains are still required on 2WD vehicles from Canterbury View today. If you require the services of our chain hire and fitting crew, please stop at the Information Booth for assistance (EFTPOS accepted). Note we do not stock chains for low-profile tyres. Drive with care on the snow, pull over where safe to allow faster vehicles past and keep to the left at all times. Our speed limit is strictly 40km/h.

BACKCOUNTRY LATEST UPDATE

Please refer to the Canterbury back country report at http://www.avalanche.net.nz/

Any terrain closures will be indicated on the day on signage around the ski area. Please be respectful of all closures as these are in place for your safety. If you are not sure please ask one of our Ski Patrollers who are stationed around the unload areas of our lifts.

Our lifts access certain terrain that suits different ability levels - to be sure you have the right lift pass to access the type of lift and terrain for your skiing/riding ability, please ask our Guest Services staff if you need assistance.

When riding a lift always ensure the safety bar is lowered on your chair. If you are unsure about the lift, just ask the nearest Lift Operator to slow it down for you. All lifts operate between 9am-4pm daily, weather & snow conditions permitting.
