ENDORSEMENTS

“It’s very hard to summarise my entire 2009 winter experience in just a few lines; it will definitely be one of those “ahh, remember that winter in Queenstown...” or “this one season when I skied at Coronet Peak ...” which will be synonymous with the majority of my stories henceforth!”

This wouldn’t have been possible without the help, guidance and tuition from the guys and gals at CPIT. From their understanding nature for applicants travelling from far slung places such as Ireland (where the biggest mountain is three crates of Jameson whiskey stacked high) to their continual support and sense of fun throughout an enduring season. Joining the CPIT course was a decision I didn’t regret for a second, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the team and the other trainee instructors.

The best summer I ever had was a cold winter in Queenstown!”
Pete O'Connell CPIT Participant 2009

“The Instructor Training Program has been the most amazing time for me. Not just from the perspective of developing my skiing and gaining a qualification for my dream job, but also from the perspective of meeting some fantastic people and enjoying the spectacular surroundings of Queenstown. There was a brilliant sense of camaraderie within the group and with our trainers. Training was great fun and has made a huge difference to my skiing as well as my teaching abilities. I‘ve enjoyed every minute of the course and I can’t wait to come back next season, with any luck, as an instructor.”
Sofia CPIT Participant 2005

“The Instructor Training Programme at Coronet Peak was an awesome experience for me, I made friends from all over the world and had amazing fun as well. The trainers helped me improve my snowboarding to a level where I was able to pass SBINZ CSI and Stage 1. I enjoyed every minute of the programme and as a result I've been able to work as an instructor in Europe and the USA .

The past three seasons I have returned to Queenstown and worked at Coronet Peak, the first two seasons as an instructor and this past season as a Snowboard Supervisor for the Snowsports School. I was also able to pass SBINZ Stage 2 exam with the help of the in-house training provided by NZSki at Coronet Peak.

I would highly recommend the Coronet Peak training programme to anyone wanting to get into the snowsports industry.
Rhys Jones CPIT Participant 2005 and current Instructor/Coordinator at Coronet Peak

Comments from:

Michel Marchand – Coronet Peak & The Remarkables Snowsports School Director

Coronet Peak and The Remarkables Snowsports Schools employ 225 seasonal staff, all of whom are qualified instructors including examiners. The Snowsports School plays a key role in delivering a winter experience to the many guests at our ski areas, both domestic and international.

We believe this programme provides the best opportunity for students to become ski or snowboard instructors and to gain the skills required for the snowsports industry.

Queenstown is THE place to participate in a training programme and allows participants to get involved and enjoy all the activities the region has to offer.

Since 2005 we have trained people to become ski or snowboard instructors and are delighted to have 100% success rate with the NZSIA/SBINZ Level One certificate (former CSI Exam), and 75% success after the NZSIA/SBINZ Level Two certificate (former Stage One Exam)".

Toby Arnott – Coronet Peak Instructor Training Programme Manager
