Mt Hutt Ski Area - The Kiwi Alpine Experience

Mt Hutt and Methven are fantastic places to spend the winter! Mt Hutt has a history of one of the highest snowfalls in the South Island, along with the best mix of terrain in the country.

Mt Hutt was pioneered by a group of locals in Methven who saw an amazing opportunity on their doorstep. We are still connected in many ways to these pioneers as we continue to establish Mt Hutt as a high country ski resort.

We are the only ski area in New Zealand to hold a World Cup, and we have established ourselves as the leader in the Southern Hemisphere for speed training. During your time here you will have the opportunity to see some of the best ski racers in the world training at Mt Hutt.

We have the highest lift access in the South Island at 2086m, which means our snow stays in good condition all season. Spring is the time for fun in the sun. Mt Hutt has traditionally been the place to be in the South Island to enjoy spring conditions.

If you join our team, you will find yourself as part of a crew who consistently deliver a high standard of service, both to each other and to our guests. We want everyone’s time with us to be enjoyable, full of good times and provide a sense of personal achievement. The Methven community pride themselves on being friendly and welcoming to all those who live and holiday here. I have no doubt that if you join us as an employee of Mt Hutt this season, you will feel part of this community whilst you are here.

The old saying of “you get out what you put in” stands here at Mt Hutt. We expect a high level of service from you and encourage you to offer constructive feedback about your role and the mountain.

During the season there are many opportunities for our crew to interact with team members within their own department as well as other departments. Mt Hutt continues to attract high quality staff and we have a high return rate with at least 50% of staff choosing to return to work for us each year.

Health & safety is something we take very seriously at Mt Hutt. We focus on many areas to improve your health and safety and staff input to this process is essential.

The Remarkables - Big Mountain Big Attitude

The Remarkables Ski Area was initially developed in 1985, and is the youngest major commercial ski area in New Zealand. It has grown to be recognised as one of New Zealand’s prized, true alpine playgrounds, catering for guests experiencing their first time on snow through to the off-piste junkie looking for big air. We offer a wide variety of terrain, features and scenery for all abilities.

After the success of the 2009 season, our leadership team has gone through more up-skilling in order to provide you with tools and support to assist you in providing top quality professional service for our guests this season. We as a company and ski area set high standards for ourselves and have high expectations for guest satisfaction throughout the season. Success in this area is only possible through your commitment and motivation to make it happen. There are opportunities here for you to achieve your goals and more this season through the initiatives included in the NZSki-U winter prospectus. I encourage you to take full advantage of them.

We have an excellent work ethic and attitude, which is our backbone for success. We recognise the importance of acknowledgement, support, contributing, listening and providing our guests with accurate personal engagement which influences everybody’s experience in this wonderful setting.
